Monster Story

Set in a rural village colonized by Germans, Monster Story follows little Ana as she engages with a play depicting the history of the Thiltapes, a mythical animal lurking in the forest. As the story unfolds, Ana's curiosity grows about her father's past, which is marred by suspicion of a violent act against a neighbor’s cow.

The narrative also features a botanist who, two hundred years prior, becomes captivated by the same legend of the Thiltapes. His search for discovery reveals his own struggles and desires for justification of his journey. Both Ana and the botanist face their inner turmoil while navigating the folklore and harsh realities of their lives.

With a strong performance from Araci Esteves, this film delves into the intersection of myth and personal history, creating a rich tapestry that highlights the complexities of human emotion and the allure of the unknown.
