Mother's Ambition

The story follows the Kumakichi Ishida family, who once lived happily in a small house in Shibuya. When their larger mansion in Azabu is returned to them after being requisitioned by occupation forces, Mrs. Ishida sees an opportunity to revitalize their fortunes by converting the mansion into a Western-style hotel. However, her plans take a turn as she is swindled, forcing her to return to Shibuya with a sobering realization.
