My Wealthy Mistress

The story revolves around Oļģerts Kurmis, an educated unemployed man navigating various odd jobs in Riga during the 1930s. He is accompanied by his friend Frīdis, a vagrant, as they assist Mr. Kalnkāja, who aspires to enter parliament. Kurmis takes on the role of caretaker for his neighbor Emma, a young woman recently released from prison, and helps her secure a position as a maid in Kalnkāja's household.

However, Emma's struggles continue when she is arrested again for a political offense, highlighting the film's commentary on the social issues of the era.
