Nabucco

Nabucco tells the story of Jerusalem mourning its defeat and placing its fate in the hands of Nabucco, the King of Babylon. The plot unfolds with Ismaël warning of Nabucco's approach to the Temple while navigating his love for Ferena, the Babylonian king's daughter, who is held hostage by the Hebrews. Ferena's sister, Abigaille, complicates matters as she harbors feelings for Ismaël as well.

This new production highlights the operatic classic's resonance with contemporary themes, especially given its historical premiere in 1842 at La Scala in Milan. The audience of that time, in the midst of nationalist movements, connected deeply with the plight of the Hebrews, making the chorus "Va, pensiero" one of the most iconic arias in opera history.
