Nanook Taxi

The story follows Ningiuksiak, an Inuk from Cape Dorset whose snowmobile breaks down during a hunt. Faced with the need for money, he travels to Frobisher Bay, where he reconnects with his cousin Ashoona. Ashoona, now a cab driver, introduces Ningiuksiak to a different lifestyle that diverges from his roots.

As Ningiuksiak takes a job with the Nanook Taxi Company, he becomes increasingly disillusioned. Struggling with his identity, he finds himself spending his earnings on alcohol and frequenting nightclubs. This journey highlights the tensions between traditional customs and the temptations of urban life, culminating in a poignant moment when his wife arrives to bring him back home to Cape Dorset.
