The story follows Onur, who is unable to marry his beloved Keriman due to financial difficulties. When his uncle, the neighborhood headman, becomes incapacitated, Onur is reluctantly thrust into the role of muhtar. Despite the locals' dissatisfaction with him, Onur and his friends navigate the challenges of leadership together.

As Onur tries to establish his authority, he takes Talat, a newcomer, under his wing.
