The film follows Naoko Ishikawa, a Japanese history teacher who takes a position at a dilapidated high school in a sparsely populated village. As she navigates her new environment, Naoko encounters the local vice-principal and guidance counselor, who introduce her to the town's peculiar dynamics. During a welcome party at Ikegami's house, Naoko's experience takes a turn when she finds herself in an unclear situation after consuming local sake.

The narrative deepens as Naoko grapples with her memories of the previous night, blurring the lines between reality and dreams. Her challenges continue in the classroom when a student named Kinoshita begins to display violent behavior, prompting concern from his classmates.
