Night, Birds Scream

The story follows Shinichi, a struggling novelist whose career has stalled, as he navigates his gloomy daily life after a breakup. His routine shifts when Yuko, the ex-wife of his friend, and her son move into his home. While Shinichi writes at night, Yuko seeks companionship outside, grappling with her responsibilities as a parent and her own solitude.

As the narrative unfolds, the dynamics between Shinichi, Yuko, and her son become increasingly complex. The boy begins to look up to Shinichi, who is trying to maintain a distance from Yuko. The film, adapted from the short story "Yoru, Toritachi ga Naku," captures the essence of human connection and the struggles of personal growth within a community setting.
