So, Night School is one of those early '80s horror flicks that really nails the grim atmosphere. It’s set in Boston, and the pacing is kind of deliberate, but that lets the tension simmer nicely. The killer, dressed all in black leather with a helmet, is definitely a unique touch. The decapitation scenes are practical effects done with what I assume was a modest budget, but they pack a punch. You get this eerie vibe throughout, especially with the college setting and the mystery unraveling. Performances are solid, particularly the lead detective who grapples with the pressure of the case. Overall, it’s a mix of horror and detective work that feels distinct in its execution, even if it’s not as well-known as some of its contemporaries.
