Nikolai Gogol's Hand

This film is based on footage captured by Sergey Lando at the Petersburg Recording Studio in March 2009. It was assembled by Oleg Karavaichuk and premiered on April 1, 2009, coinciding with Gogol's birthday during a concert titled "Diary of a Madman."

Although not a biographical piece about Gogol himself, the film serves as a tribute to him. Throughout the film, Karavaichuk, while playing the piano, discusses the true roots of Gogol's literary contributions, the shared experiences of great artists, and the intricate relationship between music and literature. Themes of eternity and paradoxes are also explored, making this work a thoughtful meditation on art and its legacies.
