Nocturnal Butterfly

Set in a garrison town, Nocturnal Butterfly follows Marta Dekasová, who finds herself the object of many men's affections, yet her heart belongs to Lieutenant Varga, a married man. Her unrequited love leads her to a series of unfortunate events, culminating in her dismissal from her position as a governess.

Marta relocates to Prague to live with her friend Kiki, where she becomes a bar singer, hoping to turn her life around. Just when she begins to find new hope through the affections of a young student, Lieutenant Varga re-enters her life, reigniting her unresolved feelings. The film is based on a novel, adding depth to its narrative.
