Nor Noise

Nor Noise is the first Norwegian documentary focused on noise music, capturing the thoughts of various artists in the genre. Through interviews, the film examines what defines noise music, its origins, and the trade-offs involved in moving away from traditional harmony and melody to pure audio experience.

The documentary provides a historical context, tracing the roots of noise music from the Futurism movement and Luigi Russolo before World War I, through electronic experiments of the 1950s, avant-garde movements of the 1960s, and the influences of industry and punk in the 1970s. It culminates in the establishment of the noise genre in Japan towards the end of the 1970s.
