So, Number 33 from 2016 is quite the interesting piece, isn't it? Directed by someone we don't really know, it feels very much like a student film, but in a good way. It captures that rawness, that desire to explore something deeper. The pacing is pretty deliberate, letting the drama unfold slowly, which can be a bit of a double-edged sword, but it really gives the viewer time to reflect. The atmosphere is thick with tension, almost palpable at times. The performances aren’t polished, but they have this honest quality that really pulls you in. Themes of struggle and identity are woven throughout, making it feel personal. It’s definitely distinctive in its presentation, like a snapshot of a moment in time from the AFI Conservatory exercises.
