The film follows António, an agent of the PIDE, as he is tasked with surveilling Aurora, a young woman suspected of being involved in oppositionist activities. As the backdrop of the student revolt unfolds in Paris, their relationship blossoms into a deep yet forbidden love. However, their connection faces challenges when they return to Porto, leading to a heartbreaking end to their romance.

For decades after their separation, António continues to write letters to Aurora, which she keeps unopened. The unexpected interruption of their correspondence pushes both characters toward despair. Based on the director's own novel "A Casa Azul" (The Blue House), the film captures the complexities of love in a politically charged environment.
