The film follows head waiters Gustav and Franz, who are close friends despite their contrasting lifestyles. After losing their jobs when their employer decides to sell the café, they use unexpected funds from Franz's brother to buy half of the establishment. They transform one side into a modern Musicbox-Espresso called "Pinguin," while the other remains a traditional Viennese café.
