Oberst Wennerström

The film centers on Stig Wennerström, a military attaché who becomes embroiled in high-stakes espionage. After making contact with the US secret service at a party, he travels to Moscow and begins sharing critical intelligence about Soviet jets. However, Wennerström is not operating in good faith; he engages in a double game with Lieutenant General Aratov, a Russian officer, which complicates his allegiances.

For three years, Wennerström successfully navigates this dangerous path, but his luck runs out when the Soviet secret service uncovers his dual role. As a result, he is coerced into becoming a full-fledged spy for the Soviets while maintaining ties to the American capital.
