Once a Black Sheep is one of those HK action flicks that combines the gritty streets with a touch of humor. Dee, the hot-headed cop, is quite the character, all disheveled and ruffled against the slick, designer-dressed Apple Yu. Their chemistry is interesting — she’s all about finesse, and he’s just a bull in a china shop. The pacing is decent, keeping you engaged with the cat-and-mouse games against the triad backdrop. The practical effects, while not groundbreaking, do their job, and the performances have that raw energy typical of the era. There’s a certain charm in the mismatched partnership, and it’s fun to see how they adapt their styles to outmaneuver the bad guys. It’s not a classic by any means, but it has its moments.
Features a unique cop-duo dynamic. · Captures the essence of early '90s HK cinema. · Interesting blend of humor and action.
