Once Upon a Time is a quirky heist comedy that dances through 1940s Korea. The chemistry between Park Yong-woo and Lee Bo-young really shines as they each navigate their own plans to swipe a diamond from the Japanese authorities. The film has this charming, almost playful atmosphere, blending action and comedy seamlessly. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which I appreciate, and the pacing keeps things light and engaging. You get some nice jazz numbers too, adding to that vintage vibe. The practical effects are minimal but effective for the time, and the performances stand out, especially how the leads embody their characters. It feels like a fun snapshot of a tense period, wrapped up in a con artist caper.
