One Day in January

The film follows Shobei, the owner of a soba restaurant, who serves a unique dish known as "Sanada Soba" each year on January 4th. This dish, topped with grated spicy daikon radish, is so intense that even regular customers avoid it. However, one year a stranger enters the restaurant and finishes the bowl, claiming it tastes familiar. This encounter leads to an annual tradition, as the man returns each January to savor the soba, forming a bond with Shobei.

As part of the Onihei Gaiden collection, One Day in January embodies the jidaigeki genre, showcasing elements typical of samurai narratives.
