Our Better Selves

Set during World War I, Our Better Selves follows the complex relationship between Loyette Merval, a member of French nobility, and her American husband, Willard Standish. Their marriage faces challenges as Willard's lack of ambition leads to discontent. The narrative shifts dramatically when Willard takes on the role of a chauffeur and later joins the French Secret Service after the war begins.

As Loyette enjoys her social life, the couple's separation weighs heavily on her. When Willard suffers injuries and seeks refuge in a convent, Loyette embarks on a journey to find him. This film captures the emotional turmoil of its characters, set against the historical backdrop of a world at war.
