Our Neck of the Woods

The story follows Bob Underwood, who works at Pilgrimtown’s Mold-O-Form factory, producing plastic lawn-ornament deer. Despite his role, Bob feels trapped by his family responsibilities and his inability to assert himself, leading to a life of discontent. The arrival of Elsa, a Georgian refugee, sparks a change in Bob as he becomes enchanted by her presence and voice.

Bob’s desire to help Elsa escape their factory life leads him to a desperate act: stealing union dues to fund her departure. His actions inadvertently set off a chain of events that bring both freedom to Elsa and chaos to the factory, culminating in its destruction. The film captures the struggle between personal aspirations and the harsh realities of life, offering a raw look at the human condition in a workplace setting.
