Out of the Rainbow

The story follows lumber magnate Elihu Bennett as he attempts to secure a monopoly on California's timberland. His daughter, Ruth Bennett, takes matters into her own hands by disguising herself to uncover the deceitful actions of her father's partner, Stocker. As Ruth navigates the dangerous waters of corporate corruption, she develops a romantic relationship with Jerry Simpson, a lawyer representing the mountain families.

As tensions rise between the lumber interests and the mountain folk, Ruth learns of Stocker's underhanded plans to seize land and destroy ancient trees, including a cherished sequoia. The film builds to a climax when Stocker's reckless actions lead to his demise, and Elihu Bennett ultimately acknowledges the value of preserving the land for the families he sought to displace. Ruth and Jerry's love story is woven throughout, providing a personal stake in the broader conflict over nature and greed.
