This short film is part of the Traveltalk series and begins aboard the RMS Scythia as it departs from Halifax Harbor. The Scythia, originally a cruise ship, was repurposed as a troop transport during the war. In 1940, it played a crucial role in evacuating children from Liverpool to New York under a program by the Children's Overseas Reception Board.

The 1946 voyage depicted in the film marks one of the first trips carrying civilian passengers back to the British Isles after the war's conclusion. The documentary focuses on the journey of 150 child evacuees who had spent several years living in Canada and the USA. Their return to the UK is portrayed against the backdrop of post-war recovery, emphasizing the emotional and historical significance of the voyage.
