Palmetto is one of those films that kind of slips under the radar, but it has this interesting blend of crime and mystery that keeps you guessing. Volker Schlöndorff's direction really nails the atmospheric tensions of the Florida setting, making the viewer feel the humidity and suspense almost palpably. I mean, Harry Barber's character, played by the always intriguing Woody Harrelson, brings this raw edge to the narrative. The pacing can feel a bit off at times, but that kind of adds to its charm, right? There's something about the themes of deception and trust that resonate, especially as Barber uncovers the layers of the setup around him. The performances, especially from Elizabeth Shue, are solid and help elevate the whole experience.
