The film tells the story of Sabar, Wahyu, Slamet, Sugeng, and Rahayu, who live in Selopamioro Village, located 40 km south of Yogyakarta. These five friends are determined to gain knowledge despite the challenges of their surroundings. They travel barefoot to school, cross rivers, and walk long distances, all while maintaining a strong spirit.

Their dedication to learning extends to their evenings, where they gather at the Islamic boarding school to recite the Koran by torchlight. A key plot point revolves around Sabar's struggle to convince his grandmother to allow him to attend these sessions, highlighting the importance of family and tradition in their lives. The film takes a turn when the friends discover something unusual in the teak forest, adding an element of mystery to their everyday lives.
