The story follows Sophia Pinsky, who faces the dual loss of her girlfriend and grandfather, prompting her return to her authoritarian grandmother in Boston. As she grapples with her past, Sophia encounters her grandmother's attempts to marry her off to a childhood acquaintance, Trevor.

Sophia's journey takes a turn when she discovers her voice at an open mic night, showcasing her unique perspective as a Queer-Russian-Jewish-American. The film culminates in a family Shabbat dinner, where tensions rise as secrets unfold and true intentions are revealed.
