Playthings of Destiny

The story follows Canadian schoolteacher Julie Leneau, who marries Geoffrey Arnold but soon faces a challenging situation when confronted by Claire, who claims to be Geoffrey's lawful wife. In a desperate attempt to escape, Julie flees into a blizzard, nearly losing her life before being rescued by government official Hubert Randolph. As they become snowbound together, Julie accepts Hubert's proposal in hopes of giving her child a respectable name.

The film progresses to Jamaica, where Hubert's career flourishes in government, leading to a seemingly happy life for the couple. However, the arrival of Geoffrey forces Julie to confront her lingering feelings. The narrative reveals deep emotional conflicts as Julie learns of Geoffrey's fidelity, ultimately leading Hubert to make a significant sacrifice for their happiness.
