Poor Street

Poor Street follows the lives of students Yoshkata and Petar as they endure hardships in a poor neighborhood during wartime. Through their shared living space, they experience the challenges of survival while Yoshkata dreams of beauty and stage life. Unbeknownst to him, the barmaid Vaska harbors deep feelings for him, complicating their relationships.

As the story unfolds, Petar is involved in an antifascist combat unit, and his actions lead to significant consequences. After a sabotage mission leaves him wounded, Yoshkata’s quick thinking helps him evade capture by the Germans. The tension escalates when the police arrive, resulting in a tragic confrontation that alters their lives forever.

The film concludes with a scene of celebration as the residents of Poor Street rejoice in their liberation, even as the personal sacrifices linger. Themes of love, loss, and resilience are woven throughout, making this drama a compelling reflection on the human condition during conflict.
