The film follows Jarda Kuchař, who survives by renting his apartment and managing a snack bar at an abandoned pond. This summer, his routine is shaken by the arrival of a monstrous catfish, Lojza, which brings both chaos and opportunity. Jarda seizes the chance to attract fishermen, hoping to revive local tourism.

The story features various colorful characters, including Kamil Hošpes, Jarda's simple-minded assistant, and his rival Pepa Vrtílek, a dedicated fisherman with a loyal dog. The interactions among these characters provide a comedic backdrop to Jarda’s summer struggles.
