Prayer

The film centers on Abdul, an immigrant worker navigating his first day on the job in a techno club. As he balances the demands of his new position with the impending birth of his son, Abdul faces immense pressure. His wife, Aliyah, is going into labor, and he struggles to connect with her while also contending with his boss Maria's urgent requests for assistance.

Prayer highlights Abdul's internal conflict as he fights for his right to honor his cultural traditions, specifically the recitation of the Adhan for his newborn son. This narrative not only explores the personal stakes involved in fatherhood from a distance but also addresses broader themes of immigrant labor and the pressures that come with it. The film is based on the autobiographical experiences of its screenwriter, Deo Mahameru, which adds a layer of authenticity to its storytelling.
