Promised Land

The film follows settlers from infertile regions of Yugoslavia who arrive in the fertile areas of Slavonia and Baranja. They quickly face the threat of losing their newly acquired land due to a decree from the Communist government mandating the establishment of agricultural cooperatives. Milisa Matic, a peasant, leads the fight against this decision, as it would jeopardize the livelihoods of many families.

As tensions escalate, the story delves into personal conflicts, particularly between Milisa and Markan Radisic, who is tasked with implementing the government's policies. Their clash culminates in tragedy when Markan's actions lead to Milisa's death, raising questions about justice and the consequences of government mandates. The film provides a poignant depiction of the struggle for land and identity amidst political upheaval.
