The film follows the character Julinka Svobodová, a typist who works for a firm while living in a sublet. However, her life changes dramatically after she inadvertently rides an elevator with the Minister of Trade, Dr. Horák, who resides in her building.

A rumor begins to spread, fueled by the landlady's curiosity, suggesting that Julinka is the minister's girlfriend. This playful misunderstanding leads to unexpected benefits for her, showcasing the comedic twists that arise from simple coincidences.
