Public Cemetery of Grudges

The film follows Jo, a wealthy man who desires So-yah and kills her husband, Huh Jun, to claim her. In response, So-yah takes her own life and enlists the help of a cat to avenge them both. The cat, empowered by the blood of So-yah, disrupts Jo's life, leading him to eliminate all the cats in the village.

As Jo's actions escalate, the cat's malevolent influence shifts to Young-rang, Jo's second wife, who ultimately steals Jo’s spirit at night. The family seeks guidance from the master Buddhist priest Hye-sung to deal with the cat’s spirit, but by then, it is too late for Jo. The narrative explores themes of revenge, the supernatural, and the consequences of greed, making it a compelling entry in the horror genre from the 1980s.
