So, 'Purple Storm' is a wild ride, blending action, crime, and thriller elements with a pretty dark storyline. You've got Kieron Chow, this Khmer Rouge terrorist, who’s deep in the gritty underbelly of Hong Kong. His son Todd, loyal to a fault, gets a nasty head injury that leaves him with amnesia. The film does a solid job of building tension as Todd wakes up to this new life, but with his past lurking in the shadows. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, which adds to the uneasy atmosphere. Practical effects are notably used, giving it that raw feel. Performances are a mixed bag, but they contribute to the film's unique vibe. It’s not your typical action-thriller, more of a psychological descent into chaos.
