The film follows Dr. Kálmán Bajor, a lawyer in his fifties, who finds himself in a romantic entanglement with his friend's much younger secretary, Vali. As their relationship develops, Kálmán's daughter Mimi disapproves of the impending marriage, prompting her to take matters into her own hands. She becomes engaged to Uncle Árpád, who is also over fifty, creating a humorous and complicated web of relationships.
