Rajathi Raja is a curious blend of action, comedy, and drama, directed by Sundarrajan. The plot kicks off with a classic whodunit twist—an estate owner meets his end at the hands of his scheming wife and her brother. The son, Raja, returns from the USA, and what follows is a rather fascinating mix of revenge and mistaken identity. The real standout here is the rickshaw puller Sethupati, who steps into Raja's shoes, bringing a unique comedic flavor to the narrative. The pacing shifts fluidly between tense moments and light-hearted sequences, creating an interesting tonal balance. The performances are engaging, and it’s the practical effects that sometimes catch you off guard, adding a gritty realism to the unfolding drama. Definitely a distinctive piece of cinema from the late '80s.
