So, 'Rape Ceremony' is a pretty gritty piece that dives into the dark side of youth and disillusionment. Directed by Kichitaro Negishi, it's set in a rural town where this ex-motorcycle gang faces some pretty brutal vigilante justice from local high school boys. The pacing has that slow burn vibe, building tension as you get to know these characters and their motivations. The themes of idolization and frustration are palpable, almost suffocating at times. The performances, especially from the young actors, carry a raw energy that feels genuine. And while the practical effects aren’t overly flashy, there’s a certain unsettling realism to the violence that lingers. It’s definitely a film that sticks with you, in a rather uncomfortable way.
