The story centers on Yuwono, whose life takes a tragic turn when his wife dies during her third pregnancy. After her death, Yuwono marries Ningsih, an office staff member, but their relationship becomes complicated due to the interference of Harun, a co-worker with ulterior motives.

As Harun attempts to undermine Yuwono by manipulating financial records, Yuwono faces arrest and scrutiny. Meanwhile, Ningsih struggles with her role as a stepmother, leading to a harsh environment for Yuwono's two children, Netty and Susy. Feeling abandoned, the children run away, prompting Yuwono to search for them throughout Jakarta after his release.
