The story follows Pat Dugan, who invests his last penny into oil prospecting, leading to unexpected success. He leaves behind his humble beginnings to create a life he envisions as a palace, sending his son Jimmie to college. However, Jimmie's college experience takes a turn when he finds himself in trouble with other students and a policeman.

As the plot unfolds, Jimmie partners with a young Italian in a nursery business after leaving college.
