Realm of the Immortals is an intriguing blend of action and fantasy with a unique take on the xianxia genre. It follows Lu Fan, a typical high school student who finds himself unwittingly drawn into a war between demons. The pacing is a bit erratic at times, shifting from fast-paced battles to more introspective moments as he navigates his new life at Xianxia College. The practical effects are surprisingly decent for a film of its budget, and the fight choreography has a certain charm. The underlying themes of growth, love, and self-discovery resonate throughout, but the character development is somewhat uneven. Still, there’s something oddly captivating about its earnestness amidst the chaos.
Interesting take on the xianxia genre. · Decent practical effects and choreography. · Pacing has its ups and downs.
