Recall (2018) dives into the fallout of a tragic, real-world incident, and it's got this heavy, somber vibe throughout. The pacing feels deliberate, almost meditative at times, as it unravels the layers of blame and guilt surrounding the freight company. Tokuro Akamatsu, played with a compelling depth, grapples with the ramifications of a structural defect that caused a terrifying accident. It’s interesting how the film uses minimal practical effects, opting instead for a focus on the human emotions and moral dilemmas faced by the characters. The atmosphere really captures the tension and despair that follows such a public tragedy, making it stand out in the drama genre. Not your conventional storytelling, for sure.
