Recuperación de la montaña

This documentary examines three methods to satisfy the increasing demand for wood while preventing desertification in Costa Rica. It highlights spontaneous reforestation efforts led by the youth, technical and commercial plantation, and the comprehensive utilization of forest resources. Through interviews with scientists, farmers, and local youth, the film sheds light on the critical environmental challenges facing the country.

One powerful visual element in the film is the depiction of a solitary tree, referred to as the "lone witness," which symbolizes the consequences of deforestation. This tree stands abandoned in infertile pastures in the Puriscal area, representing the absurdity of tree felling practices. The film captures the urgency of addressing these environmental issues and illustrates the voices of those directly affected by them.
