Riocorrente feels like a quiet exploration of the human condition. You’ve got Marcelo, a journalist who is deeply immersed in the complexities of life, and then there’s Carlos, a former car-thief, which adds a nice layer of grit. Renata is caught in the middle, embodying the struggle between love and desire. The film captures a unique atmosphere where the everyday meets the surreal. The pacing is a bit languid, but that gives you time to really sink into the characters’ lives and choices. There's this theme of transformation — Exu, the ever-becoming, really encapsulates that. It’s not flashy, but the performances are grounded and resonate well throughout. Definitely a piece that makes you think rather than just watch.
