Rock Star (2001) is a quirky blend of comedy and drama that taps into the rock ‘n’ roll fantasy with a lighthearted touch. Mark Wahlberg plays Izzy, a guy who goes from being the lead of a tribute band to fronting the real deal, Steel Dragon. The film nails the late '90s metal vibe with its over-the-top costumes and the music captures that glam scene perfectly. The pacing can be a bit uneven at times, but the performances, especially by Jennifer Aniston and Timothy Olyphant, add a nice depth. It’s not just about the highs of rock stardom; it dives into what happens when the fantasy clashes with reality, making for some pretty genuine moments amid the glam.
