Rogue River is one of those indie flicks that creeps under your skin. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and the pacing does a nice job of building unease. It starts with this innocent trip, but then you have that sharp turn into horror when she meets the stranger. The cabin feels claustrophobic, a perfect backdrop for the unfolding dread. Practical effects are used effectively, lending a raw edge to the violence that feels more impactful than CGI. The performances are solid, especially the lead's descent from uncertainty to sheer terror. It’s the kind of film that leaves you feeling a bit unsettled long after the credits roll, and that’s what stays with you.
Interesting take on isolation horror.Solid practical effects enhance the realism.Character development adds depth to the narrative.
