Landscape architect Victoria Crayshaw seeks to fulfill her late mother's wish by creating a Japanese garden on her family's property. To gather inspiration, she searches for a travel companion online and finds math teacher Carl Webber. However, upon his arrival in Bodmin, Carl’s behavior is unexpected.
