Runaway

Runaway tells the story of Song Ryul, who returns to his countryside home to visit his ailing father. Upon discovering that his cousin has conspired with Japanese occupiers to sell their family's crop, Song Ryul is compelled to emigrate to Kando in Manchuria. The film depicts the challenges his family faces as they navigate life in a new land.

As tensions rise, Song Ryul finds himself imprisoned after a conflict with a local pharmacist. The narrative takes a turn when Kim Il-sung and his guerrillas raid the prison, liberating the inmates. This leads to a dramatic act of revenge against the Japanese occupiers as the inmates blow up a railway, showcasing a pivotal moment in the struggle for justice.
