Running on Sand

The film follows Aumari, a young Eritrean refugee in Israel, who faces deportation back to his home country. In a twist of fate, he escapes and is mistakenly identified as a Nigerian soccer player arriving at the airport. Seizing this opportunity, Aumari joins the struggling team of Maccabi Netanya, despite having no soccer skills.

As he navigates his new life, Aumari not only tries to fit into the team but also forms a romantic relationship with the unconventional daughter of the team owner. The film presents a unique perspective on freedom and identity, showcasing Aumari's journey as he attempts to find his place in a new world while helping to heal the divisions within the team.
