The film centers around Moti, a merchant selling jaggery, who is deeply in love with a village girl but struggles with the financial burden of dowry. To resolve his dilemma, he marries Mahjubhi, an older woman who helps him in his business, while secretly working towards his dream of marrying his true love.

As Moti navigates the challenges of his marriage to Mahjubhi, he exploits her labor to save enough money for the dowry. Eventually, he achieves his goal, but his actions lead to a bitter divorce where he accuses Mahjubhi of infidelity. The film culminates in Moti marrying the village girl, only to face dire consequences for his earlier decisions, particularly losing the quality jaggery that Mahjubhi provided.
