Sibel's Silence

Set in August 2014 in Sinjar, northwest Iraq, Sibel's Silence tells the story of Sibel, a 13-year-old girl abducted by ISIS in front of her family. The film portrays the brutal reality of sexual slavery and the challenges faced by victims of such atrocities. After enduring unimaginable horrors, Sibel is rescued by Hana, an ophthalmologist of Kurdish origin living in France, who adopts her and endeavors to provide a loving home.

Despite Hana's efforts to help Sibel adjust to her new life, the trauma manifests as silence, symbolizing the deep scars left by her experiences. The film highlights the struggle for healing and the complex path towards reclaiming one's voice after such profound loss.
